Digital innovations for a modern employee experience
As Product Owner Campus IT Services at OTTO, Kathleen is responsible for the further development of the digital solutions in the cooking plant and health management. Her goal is to promote innovation and create a better employee experience. But what advice does she have for women who want to take the step into IT and what excites her about her job? Kathleen has now revealed this and much more to us.
Kathleen - your topic in 3 sentences!
"My responsibilities include working with departments and employees to further develop our digital solutions for our Kochwerk and Health Management. My goal is to improve the employee experience on campus and in hybrid environments by promoting innovation, optimizing processes and creating uniform technical solutions. In addition, I always keep an eye on the cost-effectiveness of the products used."
Why is your topic important for OTTO?
"At OTTO, it is important to us to make our employees' everyday working lives as attractive as possible, whether they are on campus or at home. To this end, we rely on innovative technologies and want to make technological progress tangible for everyone. Our goal is to ensure that our employees feel completely at home and can benefit from the latest developments."
What excites you most about your job?
"What excites me most about my job is the incredible variety and diversity of the topics I get to deal with. I particularly appreciate the huge degree of freedom I have in shaping my work. This combination of flexibility and challenges drives me every day."
What are you currently working on?
"Our last major project was a measure that enables us to calculate the CO2 emissions of individual dishes at the Kochwerk. These values will then be displayed on monitors in the Elbe as well as in the web menu and app. In this way, we give our employees* the opportunity to make conscious decisions and eat in a climate-friendly way."
What advice would you give to women who are interested in getting into IT?
"My advice is: Just do it! IT offers so many diverse and exciting fields of activity that there is something for everyone. When I started, I was warmly welcomed by my colleagues in IT and the open exchange with experienced colleagues helped me make my decision."
What are your three superpowers that are very useful to you in your current job?
"What should never be missing is composure, adaptability and, of course, a sense of humor."
How would you describe the atmosphere in your team?
"The atmosphere in our team is really great. We always have an open, inspiring and appreciative exchange on a wide variety of topics. And, of course, we have a lot of fun doing it."
