I'm with the applicant management team at Otto Group IT and I mainly deal with frontend and interface development. I'm originally from Riga (Latvia), moved to Hamburg during my school years and completed my B.Sc. in Computer Science at the University of Hamburg at the age of 26. I joined OTTO as a working student, and now I work permanently as an SAP Frontend Dev.
Our systems support the application process from recommendation to hiring. This means that the application documents can be viewed digitally in the respective department. In addition, we provide services for external job exchanges to retrieve the currently valid job advertisements. For applicants, we provide web services for job search, online application, application status and profile services.
I basically enjoy logical thinking and constructing things. The fascinating thing about programming is the creative aspect that you can live out. Based on the various requirements that we are given, for example, by the department, we always create something completely new and individual.
We use different agile methods, like Kanban, sprint planning and retroperspectives. We like to try different intervals for team meetings and stand-ups. Our meetings vary from 15-minute stand-ups to longer meetings.
Communication is the be-all and end-all in my eyes. Of course it's great if you have special qualifications. But what the joint work benefits from most is the constant exchange of knowledge and know-how, which everyone contributes in their own way. That, and conscientious work, is all it takes.
