Rosalie has been an important member of the OTTO team for almost six years. When she started, she was an intern in HR and Organizational Development, and today she is a Domain Lead in BI Logistics Management. She discovered her passion for IT while she was still studying psychology. For her, IT is a fascinating world that makes invisible dimensions visible and thus offers endless creative possibilities. But what exactly does Rosalie do at OTTO and what advice would she give to women who want to take the leap into the tech industry? We spoke to her and she revealed her thoughts.
"Our task is to enable OTTO Logistics to make excellent decisions and processes based on data and thus take our logistics department to a new level. With the help of state-of-the-art technologies and AI methods, operational data from the entire OTTO supply chain is automatically translated into algorithmic control impulses in ever shorter periods of time. This will make our logistics processes even more efficient, service-oriented, cost-effective and also sustainable."
"When our customers sometimes have to wait weeks or months for ordered goods, this is the result of suboptimal supply chain management. However, we believe that complete transparency about the movement of goods and algorithmically optimized control decisions are the solution to this problem. Our intelligent supply chain from OTTO is based on data and not only ensures shorter delivery times, but also enables more precise delivery forecasts and emissions savings."
"What I love most about my job is the incredible variety of topics we deal with in OTTO Logistics Management. We are constantly faced with new challenges that require a lot of creativity and pragmatism. It's huge fun to work with my teams to find the optimal solutions and to constantly learn and grow along the way."
"One of the most challenging IT projects I have worked on recently was the introduction of standard software for controlling inbound logistics processes. Unfortunately, we found out that the original software provider was not able to keep its promises in the implementation and as a result we terminated the cooperation at short notice. Thanks to the great commitment of the entire team, we were able to quickly switch to another software provider and are already live with the first modules here."
"I developed my enthusiasm for IT during my psychology studies. The possibility of describing and predicting human behavior with the help of statistical formulas fascinated me. For me, IT makes invisible dimensions such as behavior or processes tangible and thus enables an inexhaustible creative space - I think that's just great."
"Find your individual entry into IT and don't be put off by the careers of others. IT offers application areas for a wide range of skills, covering everything from very technical to conceptual profiles. I would encourage any woman to take on the technical challenges as well. At OTTO, we use technology to unlock relevant potential in the business. This means that a very technical position is also always very close to the core process of the OTTO business, making it very interesting and effective."
"In my job, the following superpowers have proven particularly useful: Inquisitiveness, optimism and pragmatism. My curiosity drives me every day to learn new things and to familiarize myself with different topics. At the same time, I see a potential for optimization in every challenge and try to keep a cool head with humor and constructiveness even in stressful situations. Last but not least, pragmatism is also very important to me. I believe that there is a sensible first step for every problem and that it is better to set out and learn than to wait for perfect certainty. So I am also ready to go into uncertainty and face new challenges."
