Fenja is an online marketing manager in the area of affiliate marketing. She tells us more about her career and her tasks in the interview.
I successfully completed my bachelor's degree in October 2015 and subsequently started a 6-month internship in display advertising and fully discovered my enthusiasm for online marketing. After the internship was over, I did another short internship in affiliate marketing and joined as a permanent employee without any transition.
In affiliate marketing, you work with different business models/partners. We want to achieve large sales with our partners and at the same time be as performant as possible. We achieve this by only paying commissions in our channel if orders are placed - this is also known as the CPO remuneration model for short. Our tasks are very diverse. We analyze our channel performance, optimize the large number of campaigns and identify new market potential. In addition, our commission model means that we are very risk-free and can test many things.
The work in our team is very exuberant. Last year, we also came up with our own team motto, which describes us in a nutshell: AFFIL.good! We work with a variety of OTTO's own technologies and our affiliate networks.
In affiliate marketing it is important to be open-minded and communicative, as partner contact is a big part of the daily business. Nevertheless, you should also enjoy analytical topics in order to understand influences on channel performance and to be able to optimize and control campaigns.
