With Markus Andrezak (Überprodukt GmbH) as speaker and his announced talk on "Clarity for Products: Strategy & Wardley Maps" there were many registrations and great anticipation for the Product Pioneers Barcamp.
There were many product owners and product enthusiasts from OTTO, Bonprix, Lascana, EOS, Hermes and other areas of the Otto Group. There were also guests from Techniker Krankenkasse and Engel & Völkers in the audience. Markus started his talk directly with the impulse that our goal should be to be able to talk about strategy in the same way as we talk about sports, for example. Because "The strategy is not the plan - The strategy is making - The strategy belongs to us" (source: lecture Markus Andrezak).
Using clear, tangible and practical examples, we learned what strategy should actually achieve, what this means in relation to our product strategies and which obstacles and problems repeatedly arise in the strategy process. We learned to think in levels and to align our actions accordingly. For one of the levels, the "Wardley Map" is a particularly useful tool, which Markus presented in detail in a later Barcamp session.
Due to the impulses of the presentation and the diversity of participants, the session topics of the upcoming bar camp were quickly found: Shared leadership, the required competencies of a product owner, product owner work in a complicated and dynamic environment, and Wardley Mapping were discussed. In addition, participants* took advantage of every opportunity to network and share during, between, and after the sessions.
A successful Friday afternoon - we are already looking forward to the next Product Pioneers Barcamp. Because the event was so well received, it will now take place quarterly. The next Barcamp will take place - purely remotely, of course - on 24.9.2020 with Marcel Semmler from Bauer Media Group. So stay tuned!
