Hannah is an HR manager in recruitment and is looking for new tech colleagues for OTTO. In this interview, you can find out what Hannah looks for in a job interview and what is particularly important.
Before I came to OTTO, I did very generalist HR work. Four years ago, however, I got the opportunity to specialize in recruitment by joining OTTO. But how did I get into HR in the first place? An internship during my studies in cultural studies was decisive for my career choice. The versatility of HR work excited me, and that's how the internship turned into my passion.
OTTO is a very family-friendly company where our colleagues can work responsibly and independently. The company is undergoing a fundamental transformation, moving away from being a catalog retailer to becoming one of Germany's largest online shopping platforms. It's not often that a German company undergoes such a far-reaching transformation. Experiencing this and helping to shape it in exciting projects is a unique opportunity. Nevertheless, OTTO offers the security and advantages of a German corporation.
I pay particular attention to how authentic the applicant is in the interview. That is also my most important recommendation to every applicant: Be authentic and don't pretend. In addition, you should reflect on your personality during the interview, and you can prepare yourself for this.
With honesty. That also means addressing things that may not be particularly representative. That impresses me. And in the end also with good questions about the position, the area, the management culture and the company.
What makes OTTO different from other tech companies in Hamburg? And how do you find talent and keep it? Hannah provides answers in this interview.
