You can get to know Sophia better in this interview. She is HR Manager in Recruitment and is responsible for selecting new colleagues for OTTO Advertising.
Hi Sophia, tell us a bit about yourself.
I originally come from a small village near Freiburg and chose Hamburg as my adopted home in 2022 together with my boyfriend.
During my psychology studies, I quickly realized how passionate I was about all topics related to human resources and personality psychology in particular, and I really wanted to expand my practical experience in this area in addition to my theoretical knowledge.
Before I started in recruiting, I was able to gain insights into many HR processes during my internship at OTTO (in university recruiting) and got to know and appreciate OTTO as an employer.
What makes OTTO special for you?
For me, working at OTTO means working in an appreciative environment with a great team where everyone is treated as equals. Trust and openness are very important here!
A hybrid working model also makes it easy to combine work and private life and gives you a high degree of flexibility.
Dos and don'ts: What do you recommend to applicants for an interview? What do you pay particular attention to?
Of course, good preparation for the interview is the be-all and end-all, in that you should familiarize yourself with the position and the requirements and also ask yourself what you expect from your job and your team and what makes you stand out.
But your attitude in the interview is just as important: be open, authentic and curious, because we want to enter into a dialog with you and get to know you as a person. At the same time, you should also get to know us, so we look forward to answering your questions.
Insider tip: How can I convince you in an interview?
By realizing that you are enthusiastic about what you do. Reflect on yourself and think about where there may be areas for personal development. Be authentic and try not to pretend.
Outside of my job, I keep myself busy...
a mix of strenuous sport and relaxation, be it indoor cycling and yoga or outdoor hiking and walking. I also love discovering new (coffee) spots in Hamburg and traveling to new places. Culinary delights should never be neglected. I'm also always very enthusiastic about crime novels of all kinds (and reading tips).
