Carolin is an HR manager in recruitment and is responsible for selecting new trainees and dual students. In this interview, she reveals her tips for a successful application.
After graduating from high school in my hometown of Pinneberg, I had a few stops along the way before joining OTTO. A stay abroad in Sydney for half a year as an au pair, trying out a medical degree with the realization that it wasn't right for me, and a voluntary social (half) year in a kindergarten gave me insights into various professions. After these stages I decided to start my apprenticeship as a wholesale and foreign trade merchant at OTTO. During my apprenticeship I passed through various stations and after graduation I was taken on as a junior project manager in the Home & Living strategy. Since I was already very interested in the HR area during my training, I started studying business psychology part-time and decided to make an internal move into this area. Now I've been responsible for our talent pool and the recruiting of trainees and dual students since 2022.
I find the working atmosphere at OTTO unique because it is characterized by a lot of openness and appreciation. People treat each other as equals and each person is regarded as a fully-fledged member of the company - from trainees to managers.
OTTO is also undergoing a major transformation process. It offers the opportunity to play an active role in shaping this process and to develop personally in the process.
It is particularly important to me that you are authentic. This gives me the opportunity to get to know you as you really are. In addition, you should have studied the position well in advance and reflected on yourself. This should enable you to convincingly tell me why you are a good fit for this particular position.
Be honest and yourself in the interview, bring questions that interest you and show me what added value you can offer OTTO as an employee.
Then feel free to add me on XING.
