7/30/2015
Dr Michael Müller-Wünsch (53) will assume the position of Member of the OTTO Management Board Technology (CIO) as of 1 August 2015. With this newly created position and the associated expansion of its independent IT organisation, the online retailer is taking another decisive step forward in the digitalisation of its business model.

From 1 August 2015 Dr Michael Müller-Wünsch (Berlin, 1961), will take responsibility for the online retailer's IT environment as Member of the OTTO Management Board Technology (CIO). With this newly created function, the Hamburg-based company is not only strengthening its independence in IT development but is also once again underpinning its stated aim for the long term. "We intend to help shape the future of digital retail, and set benchmarks as an innovative driver of change. We are creating an important foundation for this with our own OTTO IT Division. In the past, projects such as Lhotse have shown that we possess an IT development capacity that is to be taken seriously. We want to further professionalise this and clearly embed it in our processes and structures", says Alexander Birken, Member of the Executive Board, Multichannel Distance Selling Otto Group, Spokesman OTTO.

With Dr Michael Müller-Wünsch's appointment OTTO has gained a seasoned manager of IT change processes and IT development. In his most recent position as Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Lekkerland AG & Co. KG, he was responsible for restructuring its European IT operations and standardising its IT environment as well as its business and IT processes.

Prior to that, Müller-Wünsch was a partner at HiSolutions AG in Berlin, a Managing Director of CEVA Logistics GmbH in Frankfurt am Main and from 2000 to 2004 he was Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of myToys.de GmbH. Alexander Birken: "Dr Müller-Wünsch has wide-ranging experience of a variety of IT topics and feels just at home with self-developed software as he does in an Oracle or SAP environment. It is precisely this expertise that we need at OTTO to take the digitalisation of our business model a level higher once again. We are very much looking forward to working with him."
