OTTO customers all over Germany (except the islands) can now order items – particularly from product categories such as Multimedia (e.g. smartphones, televisions and laptops) and Consumer Electronics (e.g. coffee machines, vacuum cleaners and kitchen appliances) – and enjoy very rapid delivery. If they order by 8 p.m. from Monday to Friday, customers will receive the goods via Hermes on the following working day, guaranteed and without a surcharge or other hidden costs. For orders placed from Saturday after 3 p.m. until Monday at 8 p.m., the articles will be delivered on Tuesday. Starting now, this service applies to more than 12,000 items, which will be delivered via so-called ‘one-man handling’.
“The Next-Day Delivery Service is another crucial step in the growth of the otto.de platform. We have succeeded in accelerating the logistics processes to such an extent that technical articles ordered by our customers can be delivered the next day. Our aim is to offer our customers the quickest and most convenient delivery service possible“, says Marc Opelt, member of the OTTO Management Board, Marketing and Spokesman for the online retailer.
For consumers, the quickest possible delivery is not the top priority for all assortments. When it involves two-man handling, which comes into play for big televisions or washing machines, OTTO has lead the competition in delivery planning for some time. In most cases, when ordering appliances customers can select a date and a desired time slot. In addition, on the day of delivery they can even track the route of their delivery. The major benefit for customers is that they don’t have to sit around waiting at home, or take a day off from work – they can arrange the delivery according to their individual wishes.
