Germany is sweating! With values up to 40 degrees, the German Meteorological Service (DWD) has announced new maximum temperatures. And in e-commerce? The lines are buzzing for one product in particular: the ventilator.

In the last two weeks alone, the number of searches for ventilators and air conditioning units has increased tenfold when compared to June. Ten thousand searches were made on 31st July alone - a suspected record. And it’s no wonder: the thermometer crept above the 35 degree mark in many places.

The heat wave has caused the number of searches for ventilators on otto.de to explode.

Despite a decrease in temperatures and rain showers being forecast, the summer is far from over according to weather experts. Good news for those who own a ventilator.

Note: the snippet is based on data and facts from 6.8 million active customers on the OTTO shop. With 2.8 million items, OTTO is one of Germany’s largest online retailers. The temperature information is based on data from the German Meteorological Service.
